Frequently Asked Questions
General FAQ
What is Next Size Up?
Thanks for being here! Next Size Up is a sustainable children’s clothing brand that offers curated bundles of gently used baby and toddler clothes (sizes NB–5T), based on your child’s actual size — not just their age.
We collect and sort donated clothing, giving it a second life in affordable, high-quality bundles for growing families. By keeping great clothes in use and out of landfills, we reduce waste, promote circular fashion, and make dressing your child easier (and greener) with every growth spurt.
We’re not just selling clothes — we’re building a better way to share them. 🌱
Does my purchase/donation really make a difference?
YES — every single purchase and donation keeps our planet greener..
🛍️ Every single purchase keeps clothing in use longer, reduces demand for new fast fashion, and helps your family access affordable, quality essentials you can be proud of.
♻️ Every single donation reroutes textiles from landfills, stops families from having to rely on cheap fast fashion, and gives your child’s outgrown clothes a second life — with another child who needs them.
Together, we’re building a community where families support families, and every growth spurt is a chance to do good. It’s a small shift with a big impact. And it starts with you. 🌱
Where do you ship?
We currently ship (whether purchases or donation kits) all across the United States. 🌱
How much is shipping?
Shipping is free — always!
We know how frustrating added costs can be at checkout (we’re parents too), so we keep things simple and transparent. The price you see is the price you pay — no surprises, no extra fees.
Because saving money should actually feel like saving money. 🌱
Are your packages eco-friendly?
Yes! Yes — absolutely! From our mailers to inserts, every part of our packaging is chosen with the planet in mind.
We keep it simple, sustainable, and low-waste because we believe thoughtful packaging should reflect what’s inside: a better way to clothe growing kids without costing the earth.
Less waste, more impact — that’s our promise. 🌱
Do you offer a sliding scale or discounted pricing?
Yes! At Next Size Up, we believe that every family deserves access to affordable, sustainable clothing — no matter their financial circumstances. We offer a sliding scale option for customers who need it. You can fill out a brief form to request a lower-cost bundle based on what feels fair and doable for your budget.
We trust our community and know that you know your budget best Every sliding scale bundle still includes the same care, quality, and packaging — just at a price that works for you.
What do you do with clothing you can’t use?
Part of our mission is keeping clothing out of landfills, and we mean it. While we do our best to use every piece of clothing we receive, sometimes we are given an item doesn’t meet the quality standards for our bundles. Rest assured, it still won’t go to waste.
We're in the process of partnering with a local domestic violence shelter to donate these items directly to women and families in need. It’s one more way we can keep clothing in use, out of landfills, and supporting the people who need it most.
We believe every piece of clothing has value — and every donation makes a difference. 🌱
For Shoppers
How many items are in a bundle?
Depending on the bundle purchased (aka your needs) bundles start at a minimum of 10 items for our monthly bundle, up to 40+ items in our full wardrobe bundle.
Each bundle, regardless of size, includes seasonally appropriate, pre-loved clothing in great condition - curated by size and gender (or gender-neutral). 🌱
How does sizing work?
Clothing is organized based on actual size of the items, not just based on tags, as each retailer often varies from others slightly. If you know your child’s best size, you are welcome to select sizing based on your knowledge.
If you need some help, at our homepage, you will see the option to enter your child’s date of birth, height and weight. Our smart sizing guide will suggest an appropriate sized based on all factors (not just age!) to ensure better fits than shopping by chronological age. 🌱
Are all clothes secondhand?
Yes! All items are gently-used, quality checked and cleaned before delivery. This keeps clothing affordable, eco-conscious, and out of landfills! 🌱
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Please see our full return policy. Currently, we do not accept returns, which is why we strive to make sizing as simple as possible. However, if your bundle does not fit, please reach out - we will work with you to make it right. 🌱
Should I wash clothes before use?
Yes - we recommend a quick run through the wash before use, just like you would with any new or secondhand clothing. While all items are clean and quality-checked, little ones can be sensitive to different detergents, pets, or environments. A fresh wash ensures the clothes feel just right for your child’s skin — and helps make them truly yours. 🌱
For Donations
What kind of clothing can I donate?
Currently, we are accepting gently-used baby and toddler clothing (sizes newborn - 5T). While double checked for quality, please ensure there are no stains or rips. Please also note that we do not accept socks, shoes or underwear! 🌱
How do I donate?
Request a free donation kit here - we will send you out an envelope with a returnable bag and attached prepaid shipping label. As a thank you, we will also email you a 10% off your next purchase code - just for you! 🌱
Is my donation tax-deductible?
No - Next Size Up is a for-profit organization, which allows us the flexibility to grow, pay fair wages, and scale impact without relying on grants or the uncertainty of non-profit funding.
To show our appreciation, however, we will offer you a personalized 10% off your next bundle when you donate, whether it was clothing purchased from us directly or not. It’s our way of keeping the giving cycle going - sustainably and accessibly. 🌱
Do you accept toys? Bibs? Shoes? Baby accessories?
No - right now we are accepting clothing only as we start our growth. This means no toys, bibs, shoes, or accessories for now. Keeping donations clothing-only allows us to focus on what we do best: curating high-quality, size-specific, affordable bundles for growing families. 🌱
What happens if I accidentally donate something you can’t use?
Parenting is hard, and going through clothes can be exhausting. We get it. Part of our mission is keeping clothing out of landfills, and we mean it. No donated clothing will go to waste!
